Thanks to the Rev Terri Stewart, we will be holding an online book launch for OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Transgender Liberation in collaboration with Methodist Manna: Online Worship for All.
Manna is an online worshiping community that welcomes, affirms, and centers queer / LGBTQIA+ voices in leadership and in practice, while working from a Wesleyan theological perspective. In addition to worship, Manna provides Bible study, spiritual support, and friendship.
I was already planning to have lunch with Dr. Virginia Mollenkott on August 1 when this invitation came. So I wondered if it might work to include her–and Dr Mollenkott agreed to host our online launch event from her apartment! We will chat online about OtherWise Christian and all that has happened since Omnigender.

I’ve been at a conference this week. During a workshop, I mentioned OtherWise Christian 2: Stories from the Frontlines. Later that day, I was making OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Liberation available for sale (or discussion). Someone asked about buying the sequel!
First of all, I need to pay the credit card bill for the first book before I can launch the sequel. I want to be able to offer some compensation to authors. So please tell your friends and family! Talk with your local libraries and bookstores! Let’s get the first book to break even so I can create a financial plan for the follow-up!
That said, it was exciting to hear the interest! I am eager, too! The hardest thing about this phase is that even though people are buying the book, it’s too early to expect that very many people have read the book!
So my dream for OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Transgender Liberation to be a resource to those who are most affected by and vulnerable to transphobia and trans-antagonism. That means making this book available in as many libraries and bookstores as possible so that anonymous seekers can find it.

I am eager to talk about OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Transgender Liberation and related themes! The following weekends are looking viable for me to travel beyond the immediate mid-Atlantic. I would hope to book multiple events or activities (could be with several partner organizations) on such a trip.
So I created an Instagram account for OtherWise Christian. I am hoping that this week, I will be able to make good on my (perennial) pledge to take more selfies.
Old First Reformed (United Church of Christ) has graciously offered to host a Center City book event in honor of the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference. This will be the second OtherWise Christian event of the week, with Tabernacle hosting a launch event on Wednesday night (July 24).

I wrote a book! OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Transgender Liberation.
We’re going to hold a book launch event at Tabernacle United Church in (University City) Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 starting at 6pm. This is also the eve of the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, so we hope that some folk who are arriving will also be able to join us!! (Can’t do Wednesday night? How about Saturday (July 27) at Old First?)
