I could not find rest in the Bible, but I clung to it until from this same book leaped this eunuch, powerful and strong and politically savvy… claiming his place in Jerusalem’s Temple to worship.

In OtherWise Christian 2, Mir’s chapter lays claim to the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 as his intersex ancestor. For many of us, this reading may be the first time we begin to grapple with the idea that many beloved characters in the Bible may have been intersex (Jesus even talked about “eunuchs from birth” in Matt 19:12). Let those who are able accept it.

I am proud that we have 5 authors with intersex variations in this anthology– and will hopefully be compiling more stories in future volumes.
