Living enslaved to the cultural expectations of others is not required of us in Christ.

OtherWise Christian 2: Stories of Resistance
Donovan made a significant splash in the media when he came out as transgender as a professor at Asuza Pacific University, but he is actually (and has always been) intersex. His article in OtherWise Christian 2 demonstrates how much difficulty could be avoided by more education about intersex stories and experiences.
I am proud that we have 5 authors with intersex variations in this anthology– and will hopefully be compiling more stories in future volumes.
The Reverend Dr Donovan Ackley III is a sometimes professor of religious studies with more than three decades of experience in grassroots community organizing and nonviolent conflict resolution, most recently helping to launch the US-Canadian peer support suicide prevention line Trans Lifeline with and for transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex people. He has recently appeared in the documentary film “Intersex and Faith,” exploring the intersections of religion and gender.
Join the resistance in support of people with intersex variations! Led by the five intersex authors in OtherWise Christian 2, you can add your own #IntersexAffirming sign on social media. Possible hashtags include:
